Weekly Update

November 28th-December 2nd

Hello Families!
Listed below are the important reminders and objectives for our week.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!

Important Reminders:

  • Next week, Monday the 5th, is our field trip!  Make sure your student wears tennis shoes and bring a sack lunch.  Chaperones will be chosen today, and notes will be sent home to those who volunteered letting you know if you were selected or not.  A reminder email will be sent out later in the week!
  • Block schedule change just for this week: Monday will be a B day (library) and Wednesday will be an E day (Music).
  • The Winter Festival is this Saturday!
  • The Scholastic Book fair is this week.  Students may bring in money if they are interested in purchasing books!
Weekly Objectives:

Writing:  This week, we will continue our third writing unit: The Art of Information Writing.
This week we will teach our classmates what we already know about the informational topics we have chosen.  We will then organize our topic into subtopics and begin writing about each subtopic.

Reading: This week we will continue our third reading unit: Reading to Learn.  We will focus on creating reading goals for ourselves as well as making sure we are reading nonfiction texts for significance, this means working to find something of interest each time we read!

Science:  This week we will begin Chapter 5: Ecosystems.  We will begin this chapter by learning how living and non-living things interact in an ecosystem.

Math:  This week we will begin Chapter 7: Multiplication and Division Patterns.  We will focus on the multiplication and division patterns of 3, 4, 0 and 1.  The test for this chapter will be next Friday, December 9th.

Have a great week!
