Weekly Update

November 9th-11th

Hello Families!
Listed below are the important reminders and objectives for our week.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!

Important Reminders:

  • Our Fairy Tale Frenzy is this Thursday at 9 a.m.!  Our class is so excited for you to see all the hard work they have done on their fairy tales!
  • This week we will continue our helping hands campaign!  This week is paper products.  Any contributions you can make are greatly appreciated!
  • Last week, a permission slip for our first field trip came home with your child.  Please turn this in as soon as possible!
  • Our Veterans assembly is this Friday, November 11th.  Students are asked to wear red, white, and blue.
  • Spelling tests are next week.
Weekly Objectives:

Writing:  This week, we will finish our second writing unit,
Adapting and Writing Fairy Tales. Students have been working so hard on publishing their fairy tales and they can't wait to share them at the Fairy Tale Frenzy!

Reading: This week we will finish our second unit: Character Studies.  We will create strategy groups that focus on the four strands of this unit: character traits, character responses/changes, determining themes, and the parts of a story.

Social Studies:  This week we are finishing up chapter 7: Being an Active Citizen.  We will focus on the rights and responsibilities that we have as citizens of the United States.  Out test will be Friday, Nov. 11th.

Math:  This week we will finish Chapter 5: Understanding Division.  We will focus on the multiple strategies that we have learned when dividing.  As a class, we made a chart of these strategies and I will post of a picture of this chart on the blog to help you as your child studies for our test.  The test for this chapter will be on Thursday, Nov. 10th.

Have a great week!
